Washing machine / Tumble Dryer

A washing machine can cause significant nuisance noise with the spinning cycle . That mainly concerns contact noise. To stop this contact noise you must at first ensure that the washing machine has no contact with the walls, dressers etc. The only place that contact noise can occur is in relation to the floor. For the floor there are the following solutions:

Wooden Platform Floor

This is a problem that appears with wooden platform floors. This occurs because a light wooden floor starts to vibrate easily. You hear this vibration again somewhere else as sound (mostly downstairs). In order to stop these problems the wooden floor must become harder and heavier, for example by putting the machine on a concrete plate.

The contact nose can also stop by the placing of an Agglomer plate "floating floor" under the washing machine. The operation of Agglomer and the wooden plate is largely dependent on you washing machine and your floor; in order to achieve a good damping you must remove the middle of the Agglomer plate until a good damping is achieved. Caution: when a dryer is on the washing machine this solution can cause the dryer to become unstable.

Concrete Platform Floor

Generally speaking with a concrete floor there is no irritation from contact noise except if the legs are not well set up. If you still have a noise problem, then buying rubber vibration dampers from the construction market can suffice.

Other nuisance noise of washing machines

When your washing machine is set up as vibration free, but you are still irritated by the noise within the house, then you can apply an absorption material (such as for example Acusticab) it will make an improvement in the laundry space. This has an effect on small washing machines.
