Stairs |
||||||||
Nuisance noise from stairs is always due to contact noise; the footsteps are transferred through the stair to the building construction. The vibration energy is transferred via the connection of the stair with the building and through the building transported further and as a result is heard everywhere as sound. A solution could be to decouple the rigid connections and supports with Performer. Because this is difficult to realise in an existing situation with the measures mentioned below you can also: Wooden stairsWooden stairs have themselves a strong anti-drumming property. The application of extra anti-drumming material is therefore not possible. By the addition of a floor covering on the stair the footsteps are damped by which the contact noise will be decreased. Steel stairsIn contrast to the wooden stairs the steel stairs have naturally no anti-drumming property; steel plates easily generates vibrations (noise). In order to decerease the contact noise anti-drumming matieral must be applied. Here every separate step must be anti-drummed on the under-side with Vibradamp A90-P in combination with Zincor-steel plates.
