Built-in box in the car |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Even a well insulated box will produce vibrations. When you place the box in the car you want that it gives as few vibrations as possible to the chassis. You can avoid this by making the box firmly fixed on a heavy foundation; for example a heavy tail. On the floor pan you place at the same time a (identical) heavy tail. Between the tails you place a previously measured quantity of Merfomer. Glue the whole construction well with Saba Select contact glue. There are also other ways to set the box firmly, without making contact with the chassis. An example is as follows:
MerfomerFor a good inversion the Merfomer must be at least 5 cm width and length. Supports the following quantity of material (total surface to be placed under the boxes):
This table gives an indication of the quantities to be used. In the folder (see downloads) are figures with which you can yourself calculate what improvement to expect. From 50 kg it is possible to apply a double layer of Merformer under the box for extra vibration insulation (terminating in 4 legs). This has no additional effect on the surface to be treated; so the table applies. Building a speakerClick here for more information about how you can build a speaker box.
