Building a Speaker/Box |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Building the box and/or speaker it is important that the box is as stiff as possible, so it gives as few as possible vibrations to the surroundings. The less vibration, the clearer sound comes from the speaker. Generally the boxes are made from wood this is naturally a reasonably stiff material. Still it is often not stiff enough for the low tones in a sub-woofer box. The easiest way to make a box rigid is to anti-drum its inner side with(V). Here the heavier the better applies: Vibraflex Extreme is therefore the most suitable. Vibraflex has a high mass and through this will also insulate (by which the waves will stay in the speaker). Extra anti-drumming/insulation can be achieved by a so-called sandwich construction: glue wood and Isomat TS all around and apply again on the inner side a layer of Vibraflex. In order to avoid that there are standing waves in the speaker absorption must also be applied in the box. Here you can stick against the back side Merfocell Burlfoam in combination with Akotherm damping wool, but also only Akotherm damping wool will do the job.
