Anti-drumming the Hull |
||||||||||||||||||||||||
Anti-drumming of the hull
You glue zincor plates on the under surface to be anti-drummed with Vibradamp A90-P anti-drumming paste . The minimum thickness which you keep here is 4 : 1 : 1. if the under surface is 4 mm thick, then the layer thickness of the two component paste (Vibradamp A90-P) is 1 mm and the thickness of the zincor plate is also 1 mm. You need per square meter (with a layer thickness of 1 mm) around 1,5 kg of paste.
Use in combination with absorptionIn the engine space anti-drumming is mostly combined with absorption. Especially for shipping we have CE-certified Merfocell GW. Merfocell GW can be stuck over Vibradamp A90-P and steel plates (attention: first allow Vibradamp A90-P dry well). If the under surface is not really flat it is recommended to level the surface with contact glue prior to application. RemarksIn the world of aggregates a steel plate is normally anti-drummed with bitumen plates of approx . 4 mm thick. In ships the anti-drumming occurs under and in the ship (around the engine). Here the use of bitumen is not wise (actually diesel oil dissolves the bitumen). For possible engine warming there is the chance that the bitumen melts or ignites. With an aggregate there is (mostly) no danger to people.
